Sacramento, Calif.—Community College League of California leaders issued the following statements regarding the agreement Governor Gavin Newsom and California legislators reached on the 2025-26 state budget.
“In addition to demonstrating that California’s community colleges are recognized for their access to quality educational and career opportunity for millions, the final budget plan reflects a focused and collaborative advocacy effort by district and college leadership statewide. The League extends its gratitude to the Governor, the members of the legislature, and local CCC leadership for their dedication and commitment to the CCC students and communities they serve.”

“The 2025-26 state budget affirms California’s continued commitment to its Community Colleges. The focus on providing access to students through the funding of growth and cost of living allocations, recognizes the continued efforts of our colleges to serve their communities and lift those pursuing a better future through education. This budget sends a strong message of support for California Community Colleges, and I thank the Governor and Legislature for their leadership.”

“The 2025–26 budget reflects the state’s strong and unwavering commitment to public education, even as uncertainty persists at the federal level. This continued investment—particularly through the Student Support and Discretionary Block Grant—strengthens our ability to meet students’ basic needs, expand access and support success. We applaud the Governor’s and legislators’ focus on stable funding in Proposition 98 to support the mission and impact of California’s community colleges.”
