CCCT Board’s New Leadership

The election results are in for the 2025 California Community College Trustees (CCCT) Board and they are now led by a new president from the Ohlone Community College District.

Trustee Sue Chan will lead the CCCT board for the 2025-26. The Board creates education policy issues and take sides on issues that will go before the California Community Colleges Board of Governors, the State Legislature and other relevant state-level boards and commissions.

“Together, we can make bold decisions to protect and uphold our educational systems,” Chan said. “This is the moment for us to lead with courage and conviction—to take a stand, to reaffirm our mission, and to protect the long-standing promise of student success.”

Additional CCCT Board officers include President-Elect Barbara Dunsheath (North Orange County CCD), First Vice President Tammy Silver (Pasadena Area CCD), Second Vice President Jonathan Abboud (Santa Barabara CCD) and Immediate-Past President Nan Gomez-Heitzeberg (Kern CCD).

In 2018, Chan was elected to the Ohlone Community College District Board of Trustees and she has served as the Chair and Vice-Chair twice. Previously, she was elected to the Fremont City Council in 2008 and served as vice mayor in 2011 and 2015.

Chan is also the president of the Asian American Pacific Islander Trustees and Administrator Caucus (AAPITA) and co-chair of the Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Accessibility Steering Committee.
