About the Award

The California Community College Distinguished Alumni Award recognizes and honors individuals whose attendance at a California community college assisted them in achieving their educational goals and subsequent professional aspirations. The award celebrates their post-academic accomplishments and their impact on the communities around them. The League has recognized more than 260 Distinguished Alumni honorees from California's community colleges since 1964. Past recipients include educational leaders, healthcare officials, honored military heroes, writers, elected officials, actors, business leaders, and professional athletes.

Distinguished Alumni Award Nominations are due by Friday, Sept. 12, 2025.

Those who have been selected will be notified In October. Awards will be presented at the 2025 Annual Convention at the Hyatt Regency Orange County, Anaheim Resort Area, on Friday, Nov. 21. The award presentation includes an acknowledgment and a three-minute acceptance speech by the alumnus/alumna. If the honoree is unable to attend, a video speech may be submitted. Each of the recipients will be directly contacted by the League’s Manager of Meeting and Events to confirm additional details closer to the event date.
