Navigating Campus Safety: Addressing DACA, Free Speech, and Encampments

In response to the many questions regarding a range of post-election, this presentation will address questions regarding the status of undocumented students. The panel will address: the possible future for DACA, sanctuary campuses and ICE on campus, privacy, anti-discrimination and other rights of students, faculty and employees, First Amendment issues arising from student protests and other student and employee speech issues.

Board Chair Workshop (Requires Separate Registration if not enrolled in ETW)

The workshop will focus on the role of the Board Chair and how to effectively engage others, organize Board retreats, and conduct Board evaluations, It will also share how to effectively run meetings including guidelines for parliamentary procedures, how to deal with difficult situations including conflicts. Finally, the workshop will cover the CEO perspectives on the role of the Board Chair.

Working with Your Academic Senate

Academic senates have primary responsibility for making recommendations to governing boards in the areas of academic and professional matters. Join this session for an overview of governance for all groups and a deep dive into the roles of governing boards, administrators, and academic senates for collegial consultation during policy development and implementation in areas of teaching, learning, and academic and professional matters.
