9:00 a.m. – 10:30 a.m.
Accreditation Skills Workshop (A)
This session will focus on the board’s role in ensuring student success, continuous quality improvement, compliance with emerging accreditation and federal requirements and successful accreditation. Successful accreditation is not just about board behavior; trustees need to be well-trained and boards need to develop a toolkit to oversee college/district quality.

9:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.
Board Chair Workshop (BE)
Being a board chair is an important leadership role. Learn the required skills to run board meetings, foster teamwork, represent the board, and work closely with the CEO. The Board Chair Handbook will be distributed.

9:00 a.m. – 10:30 a.m.
Ethics Training (E)
This interactive training workshop will cover a wide variety of ethical issues of importance to trustees and administrators, including conflicts of interest, acceptance of gifts, transparency, required disclosures, use of public resources, campaigning, and incompatible legal violations. This training is designed to satisfy the legal requirements for ethics training.

10:45 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.
Brown Act Training (BA)
Serial meetings, closed sessions, public testimony, social media, and e-communications all have potential Brown Act compliance issues. Get an overview of California’s open meeting law requirements and answers to your most difficult questions. Whether you are a newly elected trustee, or just in need of a refresher course, this session will have something for you.
